The Special Collection is hosted by the Adsetts Library at Sheffield Hallam University. It now holds nearly 1,000 books relevant to the understanding of literary taste and middlebrow and popular fiction in the first half of the twentieth century. The majority of these are novels in early editions. From 2012 until 2015, we invited contributions to the project in the form of additional information for the enhanced cataloguing system adopted for items in the Collection. This phase of the project is now completed.

However, our research into middlebrow and popular fiction continues, and we still very much welcome continued engagement with our Reading 1900-1950 blog: https://reading19001950.wordpress.com/.

We believe that the blog may be a helpful resource for those studying middlebrow fiction and the operations of literary taste. We would welcome additional followers for the blog, and indeed additional comments on reviews already posted - simply sign up on the blog itself. We would also welcome further contributors willing to write reviews of relevant fiction not yet covered - if you would like to contribute a novel review or reviews please contact Professor Chris Hopkins at Sheffield Hallam (c.i.hopkins@shu.ac.uk), who can either post reviews on your behalf or enable posting rights. Contributions from academics, independent scholars, post-graduate students, and the general reader are all of equal value to the project.

If you would like to visit the collection for the purposes of research, please also contact Chris Hopkins.
