Lucas, John. The Radical Twenties: Aspects of Writing, Politics and Culture (Nottingham: Five Leaves, 2000)

Lucas resists characterisations of this decade in terms of jazz and Bright Young Things, and sees the General Strike as 'the definitive moment for the 1920s'. He discusses canonical texts alongside forgotten bestsellers in an account of the socially transgressive and politically radical dimensions of 1920s literature and culture.
