Ardis, Ann and Leslie W. Lewis (eds). Women's Experience of Modernity, 1875-1945 (Baltimore, MD: Johns Hopkins University Press, 2003)

An interdisciplinary collection, amplifying literary study through reference to other cultural practices, including radical politics and activism, rural labour and urban field work, shopping and selling. Analyses of the material production of modernism expand into accounts of the class-based and racially-inflected discourses of the period. Authors examined include Hall, Meynell and West, as well as several American women writers.
